Details of Compact Bee Wax Melter with Tap
Eight litres, a tap at the bottom and a thermostat from 30 to 100 degrees. The thermostat is what separates melting wax from burning it.
Compact wax melter by Bienen Ruck, with an 8-litre non-stick tank, stainless steel tap and 1,000 W of power. It melts a load in about twenty minutes.
01 · THE TEMPERATURE
Just above melting, and stay there
Beeswax melts between 61 and 65 °C. With the dial at 65-70 °C you have liquid, workable wax; going higher does not melt it better, it darkens it and strips the aroma.
That is why an adjustable thermostat is not a luxury: a pot on the stove has no way of staying in that margin, and overheated wax does not come back.
02 · THE TAP
All the good, and the one weak point
The stainless steel tap is what turns this into a workshop tool: you fill candle moulds or the foundation tray without tipping eight litres of 70-degree wax.
It is also where everything clogs. The habit to get into: empty and purge the tap while the wax is still liquid. If it has set inside, you recover it by warming the outside with hot air until the plug melts — never by poking wire through it.
03 · THE NON-STICK
Why it cleans differently
The tank has a non-stick coating, and that changes the cleaning: cold wax peels off as a sheet instead of clinging to the metal. Often you just let it cool and lift the whole disc out.
What it will not take is a metal scourer or scraping with a frame tool: scratch the coating and the advantage is gone.
04 · OTHER WAXES
Yes, but dedicate the machine
The 30 to 100 °C range comfortably covers other candle waxes — soy melts well below beeswax — so technically it works.
Mixing them in the same tank has a price, though: residue from one wax contaminates the next, and the beeswax that comes out is no longer pure beeswax. If you are going to work with both, either dedicate the melter to one or clean it thoroughly between batches.
