01 · WHAT IT ACTUALLY SOLVES

Wax stuck where nothing will scrape it

The job that pays for it on day one is a melter or tank tap blocked with wax: a few seconds of hot air from outside and it runs again, without dismantling anything and without bringing a flame near the product.

The same goes for wax and propolis residue on tools, and for the shrink capsule on a jar, which needs even heat and not a lighter. In wax work — sheets, blocks, candles — it softens and adjusts a piece without melting the whole thing again.

02 · UNCAPPING WITH HOT AIR

It can be done, with a loose hand

Hot air opens the cappings without a knife, and on uneven combs where a fork snags it is comfortable. The condition is working at the bottom of the range and keeping the gun moving, never parked over one spot.

The reason is the usual one: under the cappings there is honey, and honey starts paying for heat from about 40 °C in HMF, which is a legal parameter. It is a touch-up technique, not a method for a whole season.

03 · IT IS NOT A SUBLIMATOR

And that is worth saying plainly

A heat gun is not veterinary equipment and does not replace any. Varroa treatments are applied with an authorised veterinary medicine and with the device its data sheet contemplates, not with whatever tool is to hand.

That distinction is not a formality: it is what separates a legal treatment from a preparation that is not one.

04 · SIX HUNDRED DEGREES

What comes out of the nozzle does not forgive

At full range the air comes out at 600 °C. It melts plastic in seconds, sets paper and spilled wax alight, and the nozzle stays burning hot well after switching off: rest it on something non-combustible, never on the bench.

It comes with four nozzles — one that directs the flow in a line, two that concentrate it and one that spreads it around — two temperature modes, memory of the last setting, overload protection and a delayed shutdown so the motor cools the element.
