Perforated stainless steel divider for the solar wax melter: it holds back comb debris and lets the molten wax run through.
It measures about 54.5 cm long by 5.5 cm high. The manufacturer declares it compatible only with one specific range of solar wax melters.
01 · SEPARATION
Inside a solar wax melter the wax melts at 61–65 °C and runs down the sloping plate, carrying with it whatever the comb held: cocoons, pollen and propolis. If all of that drops into the tray, the wax sets with the slumgum inside it and you have to melt it again. Fitted across the lower edge, the divider lets the liquid wax through its perforations and holds back the coarse material. It is not a fine filter: wax destined for foundation will still need hot settling.
02 · MATERIAL AND CLEANING
With molten wax the metal it touches matters: iron, brass and copper darken it, and an improvised plate shows up in the colour of the block. Stainless steel does not stain it and stands up to scraping. Scrape it while the melter is still warm and the cocoons and propolis are soft; cold, they grip the sheet and you have to force it.
03 · BEFORE YOU BUY
The measurement is what decides: 54.5 × 5.5 cm. Sold loose, one unit: it does not come with the collecting tray or the melter’s main plate.
