Details of Candle moulds – Tree hive (small)

Silicone mould for a beeswax candle shaped as a hive set in a tree trunk: a 10.5 cm figure taking 65 g of wax.

It is poured at 70-75 °C, not at 65. The supplier's sheet says 65 °C, the temperature at which wax has just melted. It arrives there already setting and leaves cold lines across the bark, which is the relief you are buying the mould for.

01 · FIFTEEN FIGURES PER KILO

This is the mould for making volume

At 65 g a piece you get a little over fifteen figures per kilo: with our 1 kg wax block, about €0.80 a candle. That is the figure that sets this mould apart from the large pieces in the range.

02 · POUR AT 70-75 °C, NOT 65

The rest of the procedure is right

Between 70 and 75 °C the wax reaches the bottom still liquid and copies the whole bark; above 85 it darkens. Clean mould, a 3x10 wick centred before pouring, full cooling without moving the mould, and unmoulding without hurry.

03 · BEESWAX NEEDS NO HELP

No need to credit it with what it does not do

It burns slowly, with a steady flame and the smell of the wax itself: that is what sets it apart from paraffin, and it needs no dressing up. What the mould does is add value to your cappings wax and turn it into an article with a margin.

04 · BEFORE YOU BUY

Pour at 70-75 °C. Fifteen figures per kilo.

✓ A GOOD FITVolume for a market or a farm shop: fifteen figures per kilo and €0.80 of wax a candle.
⚠ THE WICK IS SEPARATEThe supplier recommends a 3x10 flat wick. It does not come with the mould.
✕ NOT A SHOWPIECEIt is 10.5 cm. For a large figure, look at the Easter egg or the reindeer.
