01 · 200 GRAMS: 5 CANDLES PER KILO

The cost per piece is another league

The figure is 13.5 cm tall by 7.5 cm across, and that cone geometry gives around 200 g of wax per piece: the maker's figure matches the shape almost to the gram. In practice, five candles per kilo, against the eighty of a small-gift mould.

02 · 70-75 HERE TOO, NOT 60

The same correction as the rest of the series

The sheet says 60 °C, below the melting point of beeswax, which sits between 62 and 65 °C. With 200 g and a 15 cm mould, pouring cold guarantees a broken surface. It goes between 70 and 75 °C, slowly and in a single fill so as not to leave a seam halfway up.

03 · THE FACETS DO NOT RULE THE FLAME

The wick and the diameter do

The faceted relief is decorative, and that is reason enough. What it does not do is govern how the candle burns: that is decided by the wick — here the 3x13 — and the diameter. At 7.5 cm the candle burns a central well and the body stays standing and translucent; on a faceted figure that is precisely the effect.
