Details of Stainless Steel Wick Holders (Set of 10)
Wax shrinks as it cools and, as it does, it pulls on the wick. A rigid holder is what stops it sinking or leaning at exactly the point where the candle is beyond saving.
Pack of 10 stainless steel wick centring holders, with a point to pierce the mould and a ring on top to hold the wick. Two sizes, five of each.
01 · FIVE THIN AND FIVE THICK
Which to use in each mould
The pack has five of 10 cm and 1 mm thick, for fine or medium wicks and small moulds; and five of 14 cm and 1.6 mm, for thick wicks and larger-diameter moulds.
The rod has to cross the mould or rest on its edges: that is why there are two lengths. Too short and it holds nothing.
02 · THE WAX PULLS ON THE WICK
And how the holder is used
You pierce the silicone with the point and pass the wick through the ring, leaving it taut and centred. From then on the pour does not move it.
The silicone recovers from the piercing, but it pays not to go through the same spot every time. Being stainless steel, they take hot wax, wash clean and are reused indefinitely.
