01 · COMPATIBILITY

Six 63 jars, and two that need the deep skirt

It closes the A370, the 212 and 370 ml Orcio, the B212, the 288 ml hexagonal and the 310 ml Square. The ones left out are the deep-finish jars: the 0.5 kg Apiari and the 370 ml Aura, both Deep, whose necks are longer and which need the deep-skirt lid. Same 63 mm diameter, different skirt — and one detail worth knowing before ordering: in the deep 63 skirt only silver exists, so for those two jars there is no black version.

02 · THE PACK SUMS

Five jars match 25; the hexagonal does not

The pack of 25 lids fits exactly the A370, the Orcio 212, the Orcio 370, the B212 and the Square 310, all sold in packs of 25. The 288 ml hexagonal comes in thirties, so there one pack of lids leaves five jars uncovered. For production runs, the full box of this reference is 1,440 lids.

03 · WHAT THE COLOUR CHANGES

The outside, and only the outside

Black is outer lacquer over the same tinplate: it changes neither the seal, nor the compound, nor the declared thermal limit — pasteurisation up to 100 °C for 60 min. All lids of one finish share a specification sheet, so you can alternate coatings within a run without touching the process. On the shelf it does decide: over pale honey, black outlines the jar and frames the label, whereas gold tends to blend into the colour of the honey.

FROM THE APIARY

A Twist-Off does not screw on like a bottle cap: the four lugs ride up a short ramp and the whole closure is a quarter turn. Sit it flat until you feel it settle, turn to the stop and leave it there: carrying on does not seal better, it bends the lug and leaves the jar impossible to open. If it grates or feels like the thread has stripped, lift it off and set it down again — there is no thread to strip, a lug has ridden over its ramp.

04 · BEFORE YOU BUY

Check whether your jar says Deep: if so you need the deep skirt and this is not it. And keep the lids in their packaging until you fill — the sealing compound spoils without showing it, and a lid with a knocked skirt no longer seats.
