2 SIDE BAYONET FILTERS | EN 136 CLASS 2, FULL-FACE MASK |
4 HARNESS POINTS | 5 YEARS OF SHELF LIFE |
Full-face silicone mask by Oxyline, the OxyPro X8, for sublimating or trickling oxalic acid and applying formic without breathing the vapour or taking it in the eyes: anti-fog panoramic polycarbonate visor, two side bayonet connections and a four-point harness, certified EN 136 class 2. Sold without filters: the ABEK1 X703 (3177) and the P3 pre-filter X7N13 (3176) with its X501 connector (3178) come separately.
Oxalic vapour is not dust: it goes through an FFP2 and burns the eyes. This mask puts the activated carbon and the visor in one piece, and leaves the bee veil for the bees.
01 · WHY FULL-FACE
A half mask protects breathing and leaves the eyes to goggles, which fog and let vapour in at the edges. The X8 covers the whole face with a silicone body that seals better than rigid thermoplastic, and the panoramic polycarbonate visor, anti-fog and scratch-resistant, takes impacts and gives peripheral vision to handle the hot sublimator between frames. The four-point harness keeps it in place bending over hive after hive; it weighs about 414 g according to Oxyline.
02 · THE TWO FILTERS
It mounts two small filters, one each side, instead of a central cartridge: it spreads the weight, does not knock the veil and leaves the view clear. For acids the filter is the ABEK1 X703 (3177), which retains organic and inorganic vapours, acid gases and amines; on top, with the X501 connector (3178), the P3 pre-filter X7N13 (3176) for oxalic dust when loading the sublimator. It also takes the X70926 ABEK1 P3 combined filters and the X793 particle filters of the range. The pre-filter is changed after a few days’ work; the ABEK1 when you smell through the mask.
03 · WHAT IT DOES NOT TAKE
The X8 bayonet does not accept Rd40 threaded filters (EN 148-1), the fitting of central-cartridge masks. The A2B2E2K2P3 combined filter we still sell (689) is for the discontinued RSG-400E (565): good for whoever has it, not for this one. And no mask replaces handling: sublimate downwind, entrance closed for the time the medicine states, and only with registered veterinary medicines, never bulk oxalic acid.
04 · FIT AND CARE
Oxyline makes it in sizes M and L; ask us which we supply before ordering. Fit on a clean, shaven face: a beard breaks the seal. Test before each treatment: cover the filters with your hands, breathe in and the mask must pull onto the face. Clean with warm water and neutral soap, no solvents, and store dry, filters off and out of the sun. Shelf life five years from manufacture; the visor is replaced when scratched enough to hinder.
05 · BEFORE YOU BUY
The mask is supplied alone; ABEK1 X703 filters, P3 X7N13 pre-filters and X501 connectors come separately, and anyone preferring a half mask with goggles has the set 3173.
