Pair of ABEK1 multi-gas filters (ref. X703) with bayonet connection. Retains organic and inorganic vapours, acid gases and amines. For oxalic acid sublimation and formic acid treatments in beekeeping. Compatible with X6/X7 half-masks and X8 full-face mask.
The chemical filter you need to sublimate oxalic acid and apply formic acid safely
The X703 ABEK1 is a reusable multi-gas filter with bayonet connection, designed to retain organic and inorganic vapours, acid gases and amines. In beekeeping, it is the go-to filter for anti-varroa treatments with oxalic acid (sublimation and trickle) and formic acid. It clips directly onto Oxyline X6/X7 series half-masks and the X8 full-face mask. Sold in packs of 2 units (one filter per side).
The letters ABEK are not marketing: they identify the types of contaminants the filter retains. A (brown): organic vapours with a boiling point above 65 °C. B (grey): inorganic vapours, except carbon monoxide. E (yellow): sulphur dioxide and acid vapours. K (green): ammonia and derivatives. For oxalic acid sublimation and formic acid evaporation, classes E (acids) and A (organics) do the heavy lifting, but having all four classes gives you an extra safety margin against any compound generated during treatment.
Chemical filters last significantly longer than pre-filters, but they are not everlasting. The replacement signal is straightforward: when you start to smell odours through the mask, the activated carbon has exhausted its absorption capacity and it is time to swap them out. Always store them in their original packaging, at a temperature between -20 °C and +30 °C, with humidity below 80% and without any filtration elements attached. Their rearward-angled design improves the field of vision when mounted on the mask.
