01 · HOW IT EMBEDS

The wire heats and the wax swallows it

With the sheet laid over the wire, the machine applies low-voltage current at both ends of the circuit and heats the wire just enough for it to sink into the wax. The fixing comes out the same across the whole frame: no slack wires and no burnt patches, which is what happens with a spur embedder when your hand slips. Above all it comes out the same on frame number eighty as on the first, which is the point when you prepare frames by the boxful.

02 · THE FORMATS

A flexible plate for three sizes

The support plate is flexible fibreglass and adjusts to the frame size, holding the sheet at the right height throughout. It is set up for the most common formats, Zander, German Normal and Dadant, both brood and super, so one machine covers the frame types usually found in an apiary. Metal sliding guides present the frame in the same position every time.

03 · THE TRANSFORMER

Not included, and the first thing to check

The embedder connects to a low-voltage transformer through the red and blue terminals; it does not come with the machine. In the catalogue there are the 24 V (85), the 9 V (255) and the 60 W soldering transformer (3237). For intensive use, the more powerful the better. If there is already one in the workshop, reuse it. The manual alternative is still the spur embedder, hand (330) or electric (364), which is fine for four frames and not for four hundred.

The embedder is supplied with its plate and guides; transformer, wire and foundation come separately.
