Details of Hive bottom Grid

This perforated 0.5 mm galvanised sheet-metal strip fits into a hive floor to create a local air inlet without turning the whole floor into mesh. Two sizes are available: 230 × 50 mm for nucs and 420 × 50 mm for hives.

🌬️ Local ventilation through the hive floor

The perforated strip adds ventilation to a timber floor or another compatible support. It is useful when building or repairing a floor that needs airflow in a specific area. The strip allows air to circulate, but it does not replace shade, water and suitable apiary positioning during hot weather.

📐 Choose the size from the actual floor opening

230 × 50 mm is intended for nucs and 420 × 50 mm for hives. Measure the opening or bearing area before choosing: the 50 mm width makes this a narrow ventilation strip, not a full-mesh varroa floor.

🔧 Fixing depends on the floor material

There is no universal fixing method for every floor. Adapt it to the design and the available support; on timber floors it can be stapled where the bearing surface holds the sheet securely.
