2 HANDS: RIGHT AND LEFT | 7.5 × 8.5 cm SIZE |
Metal side hinge for a hinged lid: it joins the lid to the body and lets you open it one-handed, without lifting it off or putting it on the ground.
Pick the hand from the dropdown — right or left — and order as many of each as you need.
01 · RIGHT OR LEFT
They are sold singly and with the hand chosen as you add to the basket, so if your build takes three on one side and one on the other, that is how you order and how they arrive. The two hands are the same part reflected and they are not interchangeable: which one you need is decided by the side of the box it mounts on and which way you want the lid to open. If you are not sure, send us a photo of your lid and we will confirm it before you order — cheaper than returning half a dozen.
02 · WHERE IT IS USED
It is the classic solution on horizontal hives, the Layens above all, where the lid is a large piece you would rather not lift off every time. But the other use is just as common: building or repairing a lid to your own size, with the hinge carrying the weight and holding it steady both open and closed. For a complete hinged lid, pair it with a hasp or catch on the opposite side.
03 · BEFORE YOU BUY
It measures 7.5 × 8.5 cm and weighs 82 g. It screws to the wood; screws are separate and, as with any hive hardware, they should not go through the wall — a point showing inside will snag. Bear in mind too that a hinged lid is not light: on large lids you fit two hinges, not one, to spread the load so the wood does not split at the screw.
