Details of Honey Extractor COMPATTO® with honey tank

This tangential hand extractor, the COMPATTO, is an all-in-one answer for beekeepers with a handful of hives, or for anyone who wants a functional, compact outfit that travels easily. It suits small honey rooms, out-apiaries and use as a second extractor.

It has a tangential basket for 2 Dadant Blatt or Langstroth brood frames, or 4 super frames. Being tangential, it draws the honey without tearing the comb: you turn the frames by hand after the first side, which is what you want if you look after your cappings and intend to use the frames again.

The real advantage of the COMPATTO is that it builds a 50 kg honey tank into the same frame. That saves space, time and transfers: after extraction the honey drops straight into the tank below and settles on its own. The set includes a double sieve with handles to catch wax and bees, and a Ø40 mm (6/4") plastic gate to empty the tank.

The drum is polished stainless steel, with a hinged 4 mm Plexiglas lid and a side crank with reduction gearing that turns smoothly and progressively. There is no motor, but it stays comfortable and effective at these volumes.

When does it make sense? This extractor is the right call if you run a few hives and want something practical — especially if you would rather not commit to powered machinery yet, or you have no room for separate extraction, settling and filtering.

What you actually gain:

• A compact vertical build that takes up little floor space.
• One step fewer at harvest, with tank and sieve built in.
• Suits Langstroth or Dadant Blatt hives.
• Light and easy to move (13 kg).
• Barely any maintenance.
• Clear lid, so you can watch the extraction without opening up.

That said, a hand extractor of this size is not made for a big harvest. Beyond 10-15 hives it will feel tight in the middle of the season. As a second machine, or to get started, it is an inexpensive and very practical choice.
