6 CASCADE LEVELS | 15 kg FLOW PER 30 MIN |
50 W ADJUSTABLE LAMP | Ø 305–310 mm HONEY TANK OPENING |
Six-level stainless steel cascade with an adjustable lamp and air hoses: the drying part of the Kaskade® kit, for beekeepers who already have a dehumidifier and a melting and straining unit.
It sits between the melting unit above, which is the RuBee® Honey-Therma set or a Melitherm, and the honey tank below, and it works with the dry air from a dehumidifier. The melting unit, the dehumidifier and the honey tank are not included.
01 · HOW IT DRIES
Honey only loses water through its surface. The cascade spreads it over six levels that it runs down slowly while dry air passes over it, multiplying the exposed surface. It flows by gravity alone: there is no pump and no moving part in its path.
The air runs in a closed circuit: the dehumidifier blows it through the 65 cm hose, it passes through the cascade and returns through the 120 cm hose to give up the water it has taken from the honey. The honey is never exposed to the damp air of the honey house.
02 · THE PACE
The manufacturer gives a recommended flow of about 15 kg of honey every 30 minutes. That is the pace at which it should run down, not how much it dries: the slower it falls, the longer it spends in front of the dry air.
In the cascade, an adjustable 50 W lamp keeps the temperature up so the honey keeps flowing. If it runs too fast, turn the heat down or pause, never the other way round: held above 40 °C, HMF, a legal quality parameter, rises.
03 · HOW MUCH IT DRIES
The manufacturer doesn't publish how many points of moisture each pass removes: it depends on how the honey goes in, the pace, the temperature and the dehumidifier. A reading before loading and another at the end tell you whether that honey is ready or needs another pass.
04 · BEFORE YOU BUY
It makes sense if you already have a dehumidifier and a melting and straining unit. Check that your dehumidifier can take the two hoses and that your honey tank opening measures 305 to 310 mm, which is what the adjusting ring is made for. If you have none of these, the complete Kaskade® kit includes everything.
| ✓ FITS | Under the RuBee® Honey-Therma set or a Melitherm, on honey tanks with a 305–310 mm opening. |
| ✕ DOESN'T FIT | Other melters: the manufacturer only specifies Honey-Therma and Melitherm. The Swienty Therma straining system is a different device. |
| ⚠ NOT INCLUDED | Dehumidifier, melting and straining unit, honey tank or the sealing tapes the manufacturer recommends. |
