Overwintering, early spring and the end of the honey flow all put similar pressure on a colony: energy reserves run low just when little is coming in. The Candy Board Booster is, first of all, an energy feed — a compact carbohydrate block as an immediate energy source, combined with the Bee Immunity Booster complex, which delivers thymol in nano-particle form.

01 · THE FORMAT

Solid format: how to open it depending on the temperature

Unlike creamy fondant, the Candy Board Booster is a firm, compact patty. This gives it better stability under normal conditions, but it does require a small adjustment in warm weather. In summer or during hot spells, open the patty by cutting the film from the top — this prevents the softened product from dripping out at the bottom and being wasted outside the frames. In cooler conditions (autumn, winter, cool spring), you can cut from the bottom as usual and place it directly over the top bars of the brood box. This is not a product defect — it is simply the nature of a compact formulation containing heat-sensitive ingredients such as the thymol itself.

02 · THE THYMOL

Nano-particle thymol: what it does differently

Thymol is a natural compound found in thyme essential oil and long established in beekeeping. The Bee Immunity Booster complex carries it in nano-particle form, a presentation the manufacturer associates with a more even spread of the thymol through the colony via trophallaxis. The manufacturer also provides its own longevity trials; they are the maker's data, not independently published, so we do not turn them into a figure here. What is worth being clear about: this is a complementary feed, not a veterinary medicine, and it replaces no treatment. The product contains no antibiotics, making it compatible with management practices aimed at organic certification.

03 · WHEN TO FEED IT

When to feed

The Candy Board Booster is ready to use with no mixing or preparation. Place it directly over the top bars of the brood box, in contact with the winter cluster or the active brood area. The three most suitable windows for administration are: (1) during overwintering, as a backup energy reserve; (2) in early spring, when colonies emerge with depleted stores and need a boost ahead of the first laying push; and (3) at the end of the honey flow, to send colonies into the quieter period in better overall condition. Dose and frequency depend on each colony's state — follow the manufacturer's guidelines based on patty weight and observed stores.
