01 · WHAT IT IS AND IS NOT

The six-frame box, without floor or roof

It is the body of the 6-frame BeeBox nuc: four polystyrene walls with profiles in the rebates, for Dadant Blatt frames of 47 × 30. It brings no floor, roof, divider board or frames; the screened floor, the two entrances with reducer, the reversible roof and the board to split it into 3 + 3 come in the complete nuc, 1528. This body serves as a second storey or spare for that nuc, or for anyone who already has a 6-frame BeeBox floor and roof.

02 · WHAT IT STACKS WITH

Only 6-frame BeeBox; the footprint is not Nicot’s

The footprint of the 6-frame BeeBox nuc is its system’s, with walls of about 4 cm: it stacks with the floor and roof of 1528, and not with wooden floors or other polystyrene brands. A customer asked whether it sits on 6-frame Nicot floors: the maker does not publish the outside dimensions and we have not measured it, so we do not call it compatible; ask us and we measure one.

03 · THE MATERIAL

100 kg/m³ polystyrene, painted outside

Extra-hardened EPS of over 100 kg/m³: it takes the hive tool and rodents and insulates against cold and heat. Paint the outside only with water-based or UV-filter polyurethane paint, never enamel or solvent; scrape propolis cold and flat, and clean with hot water and neutral detergent or 2-4 % soda. Frames: the house’s wooden or plastic Blatt ones.

04 · BEFORE YOU BUY

The body is supplied alone; the complete nuc with floor, roof and board is 1528, and Blatt frames come separately.
