Motorized radial honey extractor for 9 super frames. Made in Poland and design in Italy by SAF Natura. Incorporates ECO engine.
In a radial the frame sits like the spoke of a wheel. What has to fit the radius is not its length: it is its depth.
Radial extractor for 9 Dadant shallow frames in acid-resistant stainless steel, with a 200 W motor and ECO controller. Supplied as a self-assembly kit.
01 · WHICH FRAMES FIT
The manufacturer rates it for 9 Dadant shallow frames. If yours is another format, compatibility comes down to two dimensions and one simple rule: in a radial the frames go in like spokes, top bar to the wall and bottom bar to the centre.
That means what has to fit inside the drum radius is the frame's depth, and what has to fit the drum height is its length. Here the drum is Ø 525 mm and 600 mm tall: measure your frames against that rule and, if it looks tight, ask us before buying.
02 · RADIAL VERSUS TANGENTIAL
A radial empties both faces at once with no turning of frames: less handling, less time and less wear on the frame. It works beautifully with fluid honeys and well-capped combs — rosemary, multifloral, eucalyptus.
And the trade-off, worth knowing beforehand: with very dense honeys such as heather or honeydew, or with poorly capped cells, a radial leaves part of the honey inside. There a tangential or reversible does better.
03 · THE MACHINE
The 200 W motor at 230 V with its ECO controller starts progressively, which is what keeps nine frames from being flung in the first second.
The base is conical, 0.8 mm, and leads the honey to the 6/4" valve — that is an inch and a half, not two. The 4 mm plexiglass lid lets you watch the process and carries a stop sensor: open it and the motor halts.
04 · ASSEMBLY
It is supplied as a self-assembly kit, with the three legs detached and epoxy-coated. That is what lets a machine over a metre tall travel without being wrecked.
Assembled it stands 1,130 mm tall, 530 wide and 650 long. Two-year warranty.
05 · BEFORE YOU BUY
A mid-sized radial, to assemble at home:
| ✓ FITS | Medium apiaries with fluid honeys and well-capped frames. |
| ✕ DOESN'T FIT | Heather, honeydew or poorly capped combs: better a tangential. |
| ⚠ NOT INCLUDED | Filter, settling tank or uncapping bench. |
