01 · WHAT IT GAINS AND LOSES

No turning, but less force per face

Radially the frames stand like the spokes of a wheel and the honey leaves both faces at once: load, close, and there is no stopping to turn anything. At 42 frames a load, that is what changes a working day.

In exchange, the centrifugal force reaching each face is somewhat lower than in a tangential, and the cycle runs longer. It is excellent with fluid honey and sound combs; with old or poorly capped comb you have to drop the speed, because the risk of breakage rises.

02 · THE LOAD

Forty-two, or twenty-four brood frames

The cage takes 42 Langstroth, 42 Dadant shallows or 24 Dadant brood frames, Blatt or US alike. It is welded stainless rod, ø8 and ø6 mm, which is what holds the geometry at full load.

The drum is 0.6 mm stainless with a conical bottom, so it drains fully towards the tap instead of leaving honey on a flat base.

03 · TWELVE VOLTS TOO

You can extract in the field

The SDD-2DP digital control regulates the speed steplessly — essential for a slow start — and works on 230 V mains as readily as on a 12 V battery.

That second option is what opens up extracting at the apiary itself, with no generator, which is exactly what someone working far from the honey house needs.

04 · THE TAP AND THE LID

1 ½", which in a honey house is 40 mm

The tap is stainless steel, 1 ½", the standard honey-house size: 1 ½" = 6/4" = DN40 = 40 mm, the same as the settling tank and the transfer pump.

The lid is 4 mm acrylic, so you watch the load spin without opening, and the legs are epoxy-coated steel. It ships assembled on a pallet.

05 · BEFORE YOU BUY

If your honey comes out poorly on radial, there is an optional diagonal screen (ref. W256_900) that turns it temporarily into a tangential.
