Details of LYSON CLASSIC Reversible Extractor Ø1000 mm – 8 brood / 16 super frames

If you run 50-200 hives of Dadant or Langstroth and you’ve outgrown the 6-frame extractor but don’t yet need — or don’t have room for — the bulk of a ⌀1200, this ⌀1000 mm automatic reversible with 8 baskets is the sensible middle step. CLASSIC line, made in Europe, same electronic brain as the larger siblings: it empties brood and super frames with no manual reversal, handling light orange-blossom honey as easily as dense chestnut.

🔄 Reversible baskets: one load, both sides

You place the frames in the cassette-style basket, close the lid and the drum automatically reverses direction to empty both sides of the comb without you intervening. Each load takes 8 brood frames (Dadant US, Dadant Blatt or Langstroth) or 16 supers. Unlike a radial — which loads more frames but loses efficiency on dense honeys — a tangential reversible pulls every last drop of heather, chestnut or late eucalyptus.

🔧 ⌀1000 0.6 mm stainless drum and double-bearing basket

Food-grade 0.6 mm stainless steel drum, reinforced with a peripheral frame and a flat top beam, powder-coated for durability. The inner basket is built from ⌀2 mm and ⌀5 mm stainless rods, mounted on double bearings (upper and lower) so the whole assembly stays stable even with unbalanced frames or heavy rosemary combs. Conical bottom that drains cleanly without pools where honey could ferment.

⚙️ HE-02N controller: 2 manual modes + 20 automatic programmes

LCD display, physical buttons and a Mitsubishi vector inverter driving the electronics — the same brain that runs the larger models in the range. The 2 manual modes (M-1, M-2) are for direct operation: you start, adjust the speed with the buttons, and stop at your own pace. The 10 A programmes (A-1 to A-10) are automatic factory presets tuned to the drum diameter: you set total cycle time and top speed, and the controller splits the run into 4 or 6 steps. The 10 B programmes (B-1 to B-10) are automatic cycles that you design yourself: you define time, speed and direction for every step of the 7-step cycle (minimum 5 seconds between steps); once saved, a B runs on its own exactly like an A.

It also offers 4 special modes for dense honey (standard, extended time +, increased speed %, combined ✱), an operating-hours counter, and an emergency stop that halts the motor if the lid is opened or the e-stop button is pressed.

💡 How to set the cycle to match honey viscosity

A-group programmes default to around 3 minutes, built for dense or crystallising honeys (heather, chestnut, late eucalyptus). For those, stick with the A programmes and engage the extended-time (+) or combined (✱) special mode to fully clear the cappings.

For thin, free-flowing honeys (oil seed rape, acacia, early spring eucalyptus, fresh sunflower, lime blossom), the comb drains fast and the later steps of the cycle largely spin without pulling honey, wearing down the motor and the frames. For these, set a B-group programme with short steps (10-20 seconds each, alternating direction), rising speed, and stop the cycle as soon as honey stops flowing from the gates.

The number of steps is fixed by the inverter and cannot be reduced — what you do control end to end is the time and the speed of every step, which is where the real lever sits.

🍯 Fast draining and a safe honey house

Two 2" stainless honey gates on opposite sides of the drum let you drain even thick honey into two honey tanks in parallel. 4 mm acrylic lid that lets you watch the spin and trips the motor stop when opened, soft PVC anti-vibration pads that absorb load imbalances, 370 W gear motor under the base running on single-phase 230 V — no three-phase install needed. Powder-coated legs, tall enough to fit a 25 kg pail or a honey tank under the gate.

⚠️ What to bear in mind before buying

Does not take Layens frames — the cassette is built for Dadant/Langstroth format. If you keep Layens hives, look at the ⌀1200 version (reference W205500_ES), specifically designed for that frame size.

At 45 kg it’s a lot more manageable than a ⌀1200, but it’s still professional honey-house kit — it wants a level floor, room around it and a stable 230 V supply. Ships fully assembled on a pallet. If your harvest is mainly thin spring honeys, read the viscosity block above carefully: setting the cycle right makes a noticeable difference to throughput and wear.
