01 · MOTOR

200 W ECO motor with electronic speed control

The ECO is an alternating current motor with brake and friction, supplied at 230 V through a transformer that steps down to 30 V, rated at 200 W and running at roughly 350 rpm. Speed control is electronic and handled by the green lever: you bring the revolutions up gradually instead of starting hard, which is exactly what a freshly uncapped comb needs. The brake stops the cage when you cut the power, rather than leaving it coasting.

02 · SAFETY

The lid cuts the power when opened

The extractor has a safety cut-out on the lid: open it and the supply is disconnected, so the motor stops being fed. That is the difference between a workshop machine and a drum spinning freely while your hand goes in — and at 350 rpm with a loaded cage, that difference matters. The lid is clear plastic, so you can follow the cycle without opening it and watch how the comb is giving up its honey.

03 · COMPATIBILITY

Universal cage: Langstroth, Layens and Dadant

This is the model's real argument. The 320 × 440 mm stainless baskets take the three formats that coexist across Spain — Langstroth, Layens and Dadant — three frames per load, with no adapters or spare cages. If your apiary mixes formats, or you extract frames for neighbours running different hives, it saves you owning two extractors. The outlet is a 40 mm plastic gate with a stainless steel ring, and the painted steel legs come off for storage or transport.

04 · BEFORE YOU BUY

This is European mains equipment: 230 V, 50 Hz. On a 110-120 V supply it will not run as delivered — you would need a converter rated for the load, and that is worth sorting out before buying rather than after. One more point we are often asked: the manual models in the range cannot be motorised by adding this motor; the KADETT comes with the bar, motor and control box fitted from the factory.
