Combcapper food-grade plastic tray for uncapping over a bucket with a mouth of about 32 cm: the frame slides into the slot, sits tilted and hands-free, and cappings and honey drop inside. 0.5 kg; shipped without bucket.

A bucket you already own, the tray on top and both hands free: the uncapping bench for five to fifteen hives.

01 · HOW IT WORKS

The frame goes into the slot and holds itself

An arch underneath seats on the bucket rim; on top, two pairs of slots. The frame goes into a slot until the side bar locks and sits tilted, with its lower part inside the bucket: knife or fork on one face, turn, the other. With a filter bag in the mouth, the honey drains clean and the cappings stay on top.

02 · WHICH FRAMES AND BUCKETS

Up to 24.5 cm tall, according to the maker

The maker rates it for frames up to 24.5 cm tall: Langstroth brood frames and any super frame. 30 cm Dadant and Layens brood frames fall outside that rating: tilted, they touch the wall of an 18-litre bucket. The mouth has to be around 32 cm: the white 18-litre bucket, the 30 and 46-litre PRIMO or a settling tank with that mouth.

03 · WHO IT IS FOR

Short harvests; from 20 hives, a bench

Up to fifteen hives it saves the uncapping machine and the metre-long bench: the bucket acts as tank and cleans in five minutes with lukewarm water. From twenty, or with several harvests a year, a bench with spike and grid pays off: here you uncap one frame at a time.
