Uncapping fork with solid stainless steel tines, laser cut, and a side scraper, with a rubberised handle. 200 × 70 mm and 2 mm thick.

The fork does not compete with the knife: it finishes the job. It is the tool for the places where the knife catches or skips past.

01 · WHERE THE KNIFE CANNOT GO

Sunken cells and corners

An uneven comb, with hollows or very thick honey, is where the knife leaves cappings unopened or takes half the wax base with it. The fork goes in there: it lifts the capping and spares the base, so the bees redraw the comb sooner. It also tidies up rebates, corners and the frame edge.

02 · THE OTHER USE

Drone brood sampling

Plenty of people buy it to uncap and end up using it for something else: lifting drone brood and counting how many varroa come out. It is the classic sample — the mite prefers the drone cell — and solid tines pull the pupae out whole without wrecking the comb.

03 · HANDLE AND SIZE

70 mm, and grip with gloves on

The handle is rubberised: you work with sticky hands and gloves on, and a smooth one slips. The head is 70 mm wide and the scraper sits on the right-hand side.

For uncapping in volume, a heated knife or an uncapping machine are far quicker. This fork is the precision tool that goes with them.
