01 · WHAT FOR

The cappings the knife does not reach

The knife cuts flush with the bar and leaves closed whatever sits below: sunken cells, corners, uneven combs. The fork slides under the capping and lifts it like a skin without taking the cell wall, and with 9.5 cm of front it goes over a super frame in two or three passes. It also serves for short harvests by hand and for sampling drone brood.

02 · HOW TO USE IT

Tilted, short and without stabbing

Almost flat, tines under the capping, and short strokes from the bottom up. Stabbing the 25 tines in and pulling hard tears out comb base and fills the honey with particles that then have to be filtered. With viscous honey, a bucket of hot water alongside to rinse it every few frames.

03 · SCRAPER AND HANDLE

A centimetre of edge to scrape with

The side edge scrapes wax scraps off the bar and the stand; it is not a lever: twisting misaligns the tines. The plastic handle has a hanging hole; when done, hot water, dry and store with the tines resting on nothing.

04 · BEFORE YOU BUY

The fork alone is supplied; the 70 mm one with rubberised handle is the narrow one of the family.
