XL uncapping fork with 25 tines and integrated side scraper. The tine section measures 9.5 cm wide and the whole unit measures 10.5 cm including the scraper. Its wide front allows it to cover more comb in each pass, particularly when opening up cappings that have sunk or surfaces that are not level.
Tilt the fork slightly and lift only the wax film. Start with short passes in the lower areas and then correct any spots that remain closed. If you dig in with all 25 tines or pull upwards too hard, you will tear away more of the cell wall and increase the amount of wax mixed with the honey.
The side edge is used to remove small bits of wax from an edge or support. Do not use it as a lever: the twisting motion may deform the plate and misalign the tines.
Work over an uncapping tray, keeping your free hand out of the way. When finished, remove any adhering wax, wash where necessary and dry the tool before storing it.
