Stainless steel uncapping rest that hangs the frame by its lugs and leans it on a flat bar with a final horizontal step: the cappings slide down the frame, hit that step and fall inside the bench, not on the floor. It takes Layens, Langstroth and Dadant frames, rests on its two 36.5 cm bars on the edges of the bench or of any box with a mouth over 40 cm, and stands 42 cm high; 1 kg.
The rest is the least looked-at part of the uncapping bench, and the one that decides where the capping falls: on a continuous slope it flies outside; with a step at the end, it falls inside.
01 · HOW IT WORKS
Hung by the lugs, leaning on a deflecting step
The top hooks take the frame lugs, so the frame hangs with the face to uncap towards the cutter; below, the frame leans on a flat 36.5 × 2 cm bar ending horizontally. That change of angle acts as a deflector: the capping sliding down the comb as the knife or uncapper passes hits the step and falls into the bench, and the honey running off follows. Formats change without touching anything: Layens, Langstroth and Dadant, brood and super.
02 · WHAT IT GOES ON
Benches from 60 cm to 1 m, or a plastic box
The two lower bars rest on the bench edges with side play, so it fits hobby benches of 60 cm and professional trays of a metre without belonging to any brand. And since it rests on any edge, it serves to build a home-made tray: a food-grade plastic box, a clean tub or a cut-down drum with a mouth of at least 40 cm, with the rest on top, collects honey and cappings for a fraction of the cost of a bench.
03 · THE MATERIAL
Stainless rod and profile, dishwasher safe
Food-contact stainless steel rod and profiles, with clean welds and no corners where crystallised honey sticks: it washes with hot water and detergent or in the dishwasher and stores flat at the end of the season. 42 cm high, 1 kg. The house also has the plain stainless rest (769), the universal grid (968) and the tray with rest and lid (2903).
