01 · HOW MANY YOU NEED

The sum people get wrong

Two hinges per half lid, that is one pair. Extractors with a lid split into two leaves need four. It is the sum that gets missed when ordering, and it forces a second delivery for a plastic part.

It is the original spare and fits the whole LYSON range, from the BASIC upwards.

02 · HOW IT MOUNTS

A sandwich, and don't overtighten

The hinge goes on the outside and the two inner plates inside: the screws pass through the acrylic and sandwich it, spreading the load across the whole plate instead of concentrating it at the hole.

The care that saves the lid: acrylic cracks if you overtighten. Tighten until the part is firm, and stop there. A star crack around the screw cannot be repaired, and the lid costs many times what the hinge does.

03 · WHY IT'S PLASTIC

The part that wears

In a honey house, a metal hinge in contact with honey and water ends up rusting or marking the acrylic: reinforced black plastic neither rusts nor scratches the lid. And it is the part that wears with daily opening — which is why it is sold as a spare.
