01 · WHAT IT IS AND WHAT IT IS NOT

The framing, before anything else

It is a nutritional supplement, not a veterinary medicine. It does not treat or prevent disease, and it does not replace any authorised treatment or a vet's diagnosis.

One point deserves to be blunt: American and European foulbrood are notifiable diseases. Faced with a suspicion — sunken brood, the characteristic smell, perforated cappings — the thing to do is call the official veterinary services, who determine the diagnosis and the measures. No supplement is part of that conversation.

02 · HOW IT IS GIVEN

The maker's three routes

The maker states 150-250 ml per hive in all three ways of applying it: sprayed directly onto frames and bees, one or two applications three days apart; in syrup, mixing that amount into each litre; or worked into winter paste.

The usual moment for it is after the harvest, as part of preparing for winter, when the colony is rebuilding population and stores.

03 · THE PRODUCT

Composition, origin and storage

It is a whitish-yellow liquid with a characteristic smell, on a formula including propolis, maltol, cobalt chloride and a quaternary ammonium derivative. It is made in Romania by DULCOFRUCT and declared GMO-free.

It keeps between 0 and 25 °C, somewhere ventilated and out of the damp, and has a shelf life of 24 months from manufacture.

As with anything that goes into a hive, it is best not to apply it with honey supers on: what is given to the bees ends up, sooner or later, near the honey.
