ORIGIN

Micronised brewer's yeast, Saccharomyces cerevisiae: a feed material for making up your own protein patties for bees. 25 kg bag.

It is the protein ingredient a patty is built from, not a patty ready to use: what you are buying here is bulk protein to mix. It carries 42 to 47% crude protein and B-group vitamins, and comes pasteurised, concentrated by evaporation and dried, from a non-GMO source.

01 · HOW MUCH PROTEIN

42 to 47%, and why that figure does not settle it

It is the figure to look at when comparing feed materials, and the one that makes yeast one of the most concentrated protein inputs. But the other half needs saying too: more protein is not automatically better, and a patty that is only protein is not a complete feed. It brings protein, minerals and B-group vitamins, but not everything pollen brings, and no substitute replaces it entirely. What decides the outcome is the formulation: mixing it with a sugar and matching the proportion to the moment — spring build-up, the gap between flows, wintering — and to what is coming in.

02 · WHY MICRONISED

Under 100 microns, which is what the bee can handle

This is what separates it from brewer's yeast off any shelf. The maker states a particle size below 100 microns: a powder that fine works into the mix without going gritty, and the bee takes it up easily. With a coarser grain part of the protein never enters the circuit, whatever the bag says. When you compare, look at the two together: percentage and particle size.

03 · IT IS NOT LIVE YEAST

Pasteurised: it does not ferment or rise

It gets asked often, so let us be plain: this yeast is not alive. Pasteurising and drying deactivate it, which is why it works as a protein ingredient and not as a ferment — it raises no dough and acts as no probiotic. If what you are after is live yeast to add gut flora, that is a different product.

04 · HOW TO MIX IT

In a patty yes; in syrup, only what they will take

Its natural place is the patty: the powder is worked into the sugar and laid over the frames. In liquid feed the problem is not the mixing, it is leaving it standing — protein in syrup does not keep the way plain syrup keeps, it spoils. Make up only what the colony will take in a few days and leave nothing in the feeder. And reckon on some colonies taking it less readily than others: if the patty is not going down, do not push more on them — look again at formulation and timing.

05 · BEFORE YOU BUY

The 25 kg is the working bag, for anyone formulating in batches. The same yeast also comes in a 5 kg bag for small quantities.

✓ FITSMaking up your own protein patties, and enriching a candy with protein.
✕ DOESN'T FITFeeding it on its own. It is a feed material, not a finished feed nor a complete substitute for pollen.
⚠ NOT INCLUDEDThe sugar or the rest of the formula. The bag holds the yeast and nothing else.

Do you have any questions about Brewer's yeast for bees 25kg?

Is the 25 kg micronised brewer's yeast suitable for human consumption?

No. This product is classified and labelled as a feed material, and its technical data sheet specifies animal nutrition, particularly the preparation of bee feed. It is not marketed as food for people. The fact that it is pasteurised brewer's yeast with a high protein content does not change its category of use; for human consumption, use only yeast expressly labelled for people.
