Stainless steel solar wax melter with rotating tray and wax mold. Perfect for melting cappings and frames using only solar energy — no electricity needed.
If you're looking for a clean, simple and sustainable way to recycle your own beeswax, this solar wax melter is a great solution — especially in areas with strong sunlight.
It uses nothing but solar heat to melt wax from cappings, old frames or raw wax pieces. No electricity, no gas, no smoke. Ideal for warm and sunny seasons, particularly between spring and early autumn, when it can consistently reach wax melting temperatures above 64 °C.
How it works and why it's useful
The entire structure is made of stainless steel for maximum durability, corrosion resistance and easy cleaning. The sloped design ensures that molten wax flows naturally into the included mold placed at the bottom outlet.
The lid is built from double-wall polycarbonate, forming a thermal chamber that acts like a mini-greenhouse. It captures and retains heat effectively, even on partly cloudy days or late in the season.
Inside, a perforated rotating tray allows you to load loose cappings or wax pieces directly — no frames needed. But you can also insert Langstroth, Dadant Blatt or Layens deep frames thanks to the generous internal space.
Real-life examples where it shines
• After honey extraction, you can quickly melt down your wax cappings and recover clean wax with minimal effort.
• If you keep Layens hives in sunny regions, you can easily recycle old combs on warm days in May or September.
• For natural or low-waste beekeeping, this tool is essential to close the wax reuse loop and minimize losses.
Main features
• Capacity: 4–5 deep frames (Langstroth, Dadant or Layens)
• Sloped stainless steel body with side handles
• Removable inner tray for easy cleaning
• Perforated rotating plate for cappings and raw wax
• Double-layer polycarbonate lid for optimal heat retention
• Includes a stainless steel wax mold, 52 cm long
Usage tips
For best results:
• Position the melter facing south, slightly tilted.
• Use on sunny, shade-free days between April and October.
• In hot climates, wax can melt in less than an hour.
• In cooler areas, allow more time or wait for a clear day.
