01 · THE SIZE IS THE HEIGHT

And the garment runs wide

In European children's clothing the size is the height: 116, 128, 146 and 158 centimetres of child. That is the number to start from.

The figures in the table are the garment's, not the body's, which is why they look large: a bee suit is cut loose on purpose, because the fabric has to stay away from the skin.

02 · WHERE THEY CAN'T GET IN

Wrists, ankles and waist

What really closes a suit is not the zip: it is the elastics at cuffs, ankles and waist. That is where a bee gets in when the child raises their arms or crouches down.

The front zip is what makes it quick to get on and off, which with a child is half the battle.

03 · THE VEIL COMES OFF

And that is why it gets washed

The veil is removable, with a wide mesh for seeing and breathing. Coming off is not just convenience: it is what lets you wash it separately so the mesh stays see-through.

A veil that never gets washed ends up opaque with dust and propolis, and a child who cannot see properly is a child who gets nervous.

04 · WHAT TO CHECK EACH TIME

The elastics are what tire

On a child's suit the first thing to go are the cuff and ankle elastics, from being pulled on and off. A cuff that no longer grips has stopped doing its job even if the suit is new — check them before each visit.

The polyester and cotton fabric is light and easy to wash. And a trick that works: give them an unlit smoker to carry. They feel part of the team and they stand still.
