Details of Candle Mould - Pendant - Christmas Bells

Mould of the Christmas bells: 40 grams of wax a piece, and it works equally as a candle or as an ornament.

The same mould, two different products. It is a flat piece 80 mm across. With a wick it is a candle; with a ribbon through the hole it is a tree ornament. You decide before pouring, not after.

01 · CANDLE OR ORNAMENT, YOU CHOOSE

The decision is made with the wax still in the pot

For a candle you set a fine wick — LYSON gives no size for this model; we would use a 3 × 6 — centred before pouring. For an ornament there is no wick: you make the point through which the ribbon will later pass.

At 40 grams a piece, a kilo of wax gives 25 bells. It is one of those things you make in a batch for a Christmas fair, and one of the few that sells just as well as an ornament as it does as a candle.

02 · 40 GRAMS AND A FINE WICK

And if it is scented, the fragrance goes in last

The wax is poured between 70 and 75 °C: it melts at 62-65, so at 65 it arrives thick and does not pick up the relief of the bows and the outlines. Above 85 it darkens.

If you are going to scent it, the fragrance goes in with the wax already off the heat and about to thicken. Heat carries the aroma away, so adding it at the melting stage throws half of it out.

03 · BEFORE YOU BUY

A flat seasonal piece with two outlets.
