01 · 2-5 % OF THE HARVEST

The sum that justifies the machine

Cappings carry between 2 and 5 % of the honey harvested. On a ten-tonne operation that is 200 to 500 kg, and dripping on the uncapping bench brings back only part of it.

That is the whole arithmetic of the purchase: the machine does not make new honey, it recovers honey already paid for. The bigger the season, the sooner it pays for itself.

02 · 65 LITRES, A 500 MM DRUM

The figures agree with each other

The inner rotating drum is 1.5 mm perforated plate drilled at 5 mm, 500 mm across by 325 mm tall. That geometry gives exactly the 65 litres of the name, so the figure can be trusted.

The outer drum is 1.2 mm plate, 600 mm across by 485 deep, with a conical bottom for side emptying through an elbow with a 2” female thread. Shaft, lid and drum — everything the honey touches — are AISI 304.

03 · THE PANEL SITS APART

Because a centrifuge vibrates

The control panel does not hang off the machine but is anchored to its own separate stand, so the drum's vibration does not reach it. It carries start-stop and a speed potentiometer.

That speed control is not a luxury: you start slowly so the load spreads, then bring it up. An unbalanced drum at full speed is what wrecks bearings.

04 · 1,500-MICRON BAGS

The filtering is coarse, and it has to be

It comes with two food-grade filter bags at 1,500 microns. That is coarse filtering — 1.5 mm — because what is being spun is wax with honey in it, not clean honey: a fine mesh would blind on the first load.

The honey that comes out still needs its settling or fine filtering afterwards. This machine separates; it does not clarify.

05 · 152 KG, BOLTED DOWN

The chassis is built for it

It weighs 152 kg and stands a metre tall by 600 mm across. The outer chassis is 6 mm painted carbon steel, with holes in the bottom plates provided for bolting it to the floor.

On heavy use that is not optional: the weight gives stability, but an unbalanced centrifuge walks. Decide where it lives before it arrives.

Confirm the electrical supply with the supplier: the maker's documentation records 230/380 V, and it is worth settling before ordering.
