01 · CAPPINGS COME OFF WET

And that is where the yield is

What falls into an uncapper's tray is not wax: it is wax with honey in it. Letting it drain by gravity recovers some; spinning it recovers the rest and delivers clean wax that can go straight to the melter with no further step.

Declared output runs from 500 to 1,000 kg of cappings a day, the order of a professional honey house in season. It couples naturally to the output of any uncapping line.

02 · AT LOW SPEED, IT FILTERS

And the point is not to emulsify

The second function comes on when you turn the speed down: through the opening in the top lid you fit a tube, pump the honey in, and the machine filters continuously. It comes with two nylon filters, one for drying and one for filtering.

The reason for working slowly is the one that governs the whole room: at high speed you beat air into the honey, and that air ends up as foam on the surface of the jar. Filtering fast does not save time: it moves it to the skimming.

03 · ABOUT 33 LITRES A LOAD

The drum sets the batch size

At Ø 320 mm and 420 tall, the drum comes to some 33 litres. That is the real working batch, and it is worth bearing in mind when setting the pace: the machine is continuous when filtering, but works in batches when drying cappings.

The wide-range variable speed is what allows both functions in the same device. French built by THOMAS.

04 · OUTLET AT 31 CM

A bucket fits, a drum does not

The honey outlet sits 310 mm off the floor, with an overall height of 900 mm. It is a measurement to check before installing: a twenty-five kilo bucket fits underneath comfortably, but a drum does not.

If the idea is to discharge straight into a drum or a tall tank, you need a pump after the outlet, or the machine mounted higher.
