It is the wear part of the closure, not the whole valve assembly. It works on every cycle, so you change it when it starts dripping, not when it breaks.
01 · HOW IT CLOSES
The cross opens with the dose and returns on its own
The cross opening parts under the pressure of the honey while the dose comes out, and closes on itself as soon as the push stops. That elastic return is what cuts the thread at the end of each jar.
When the material tires, the cross stops returning fully: dripping appears, the jar weight overshoots and you have to recalibrate. That is why it pays to have a spare before the season rather than halfway through it.
02 · THE DIAGNOSIS
Which part to look at, by what it does
If the machine leaves a thread between one jar and the next, the two suspects are this insert and the Mupuseal seal in the head. If what fails is repeatability across the shift, with no dripping, the trouble is usually the diaphragm or the gears.
03 · BEFORE YOU BUY
The insert is sold on its own: it does not include the valve assembly or the machine. It works in contact with honey, so fit it clean and dry and check the closure before the first dose of the shift.
