Details of Honey drum heater band 1000w

The right way to warm honey is not to put an element inside it. It is to warm the whole drum, slowly.

Flexible heating band in vulcanised silicone with fibreglass reinforcement, 1,665 × 125 mm and 1,000 W, with a thermostat from 0 to 120 °C. It wraps around the outside of a 200-litre drum.

01 · WHY FROM THE OUTSIDE

The honey never touches the element

That is the difference from an immersion heater: the band does not come into contact with the honey. The heat spreads over a large surface, so there is no spot where the honey sticks and burns.

That spread is what avoids the classic fault of fast heating: honey caramelised against the metal, darkened in colour and with the HMF driven up right at the contact zone.

02 · THE THERMOSTAT GOES TO 120°

That does not mean you should use it there

The dial runs from 0 to 120 °C because the band serves more than honey. To decrystallise honey, the working temperature is far lower: around 35-40 °C with hours ahead of you, not one hurried afternoon at a high setting.

The rule is the honey-room rule: honey forgives slowness, it does not forgive a blast of heat. A 200 kg drum takes as long as it takes.

03 · HOW IT IS FITTED

Tight against the drum, always

The band wraps around the outside of the drum and must sit in full contact with the steel along its whole length: the metal is what carries the heat away. Switching it on rolled up, folded on itself or off the drum overheats it and ruins it — and that is the commonest failure with bands of this kind.

It measures 1,665 mm long by 125 wide, the size for a 200-litre drum.

04 · THE MATERIAL

Silicone with fibre, not rigid plastic

Vulcanised silicone reinforced with fibreglass is what lets you wrap it cold and work it hot without it deforming or cracking over the seasons, which is where cheap bands fail.

It has double electrical insulation and CE marking, and the heating circuit is printed inside and spread out, rather than concentrated in a single wire.

05 · BEFORE YOU BUY

It is a 1,000 W electrical device for one specific format:

✓ FITS200-litre drums · slow decrystallising of honey.
✕ DOESN'T FITHeating in a hurry: at high temperature honey degrades.
⚠ CAUTIONNever switch it on rolled up or off the drum.

Do you have any questions about Honey drum heater band 1000w?

Can this drum heater be used on plastic or PVC drums?

No. The technical data sheet specifies that it is designed for 200-litre steel drums. It must not be fitted to plastic, PVC or polyurethane drums: the thermostat reaches up to 120 °C and the manufacturer does not approve those materials, which may deform or be damaged. Use it only on a compatible metal drum, properly tightened and at a temperature suitable for honey.
