01 · IT WARNS; IT DOES NOT STOP THE PUMP

The difference from a cut-off sensor

This alarm does one thing: when the honey reaches the sensor, it gives a loud audible signal. It does not act on the pump, it closes nothing and it records nothing. Whoever fits it has to be within earshot.

If what you need is for the filling to stop by itself, the part is a level cut-off sensor, which starts and stops the pump. They are two different products, and confusing them is paid for with honey on the floor.

02 · WHERE IT EARNS ITS PRICE

The transfer you do while looking at something else

Overflows do not happen through carelessness: they happen because a pump fills a ripener in under an hour while the operator is bottling, filtering or serving somebody. Honey rises slowly and in silence.

And the expensive part is not the honey spilled, it is the cleaning. Honey on a honey house floor is a whole morning's work and a sticky surface for days.

03 · THE RIM OF THE TANK DECIDES

It rests on top, so look at the edge

The alarm sits on the upper part of the vessel, so what decides whether it fits is not the tank's capacity but the thickness of its rim. With a drum or a single-walled ripener there is no problem.

Where it is worth measuring first is on double-walled vessels — creamers and heated ripeners — whose edge is a good deal wider. If yours is one of those, measure the rim and ask us before ordering: that is the figure that decides.

04 · BEFORE YOU BUY

Change the battery at the start of the season. An alarm with a flat battery does not warn you, and it does not warn you that it is flat either.
