01 · WHAT IT HOLDS BACK

The first pass, not the last

It is a single sieve with a dense mesh, as LYSON describes it: it holds back cappings, wax debris, bees and coarse particles without slowing the stream. It is not a fine filter: for bottling honey with no foam or micro-debris, a nylon bag comes next, or a day or two of settling in the tank, which is where foam and fines rise on their own.

02 · HOW TO USE IT

Resting on the edge, under the stream

The outer rim rests on the edge of the tank and the sieve hangs inside, without rocking even under the full stream of a pump. Fill it, let it drain and lift it out. Wash it in warm water or in the dishwasher, per LYSON, and store it dry between seasons: stainless takes the acids of honey and propolis without corroding.

03 · WHAT IT GOES WITH

LYSON tanks of 30, 50 and 70 litres

LYSON makes it for its 30, 50 and 70 litre tanks, with a 400 mm mouth; in the house, the 30 kg LYSON tank (273). For a tank of another make or a larger size, measure the inside diameter of the mouth before ordering: it has to be a little larger than the sieve and smaller than its rim.
