01 · IT IS CUT FOR THE V720

The tallest jar we stock

The V720 measures 80.60 mm across by 172 mm high, and there lies the reason it has a box of its own: it is narrow and very tall. For comparison, the 1 kg honeycomb jar stops at 135 mm — nearly four centimetres less — so twelve V720 will not stand up in a box meant for that one, and the other way round they rattle. We keep one box per format: for 12 jars of 1 kg, for 6 jars of 1 kg and for 12 half-kilo jars. Measure the jar you are going to put in, not the volume: two 720 ml containers can differ a great deal in height.

02 · IT STORES FLAT

It takes up room when in use, not while waiting

It arrives flat-packed, so until the day you need it, it lives flat against a wall instead of eating your store room. It goes up in a moment and it is single-wall board: the usual weight for grouping and dispatching, not for acting as protective packaging on its own. For a small honey house that is the difference between having packaging ready for the season and having nowhere to keep it.

FOURTEEN KILOS OF GLASS IN ONE PARCEL

Do the sum before you close it: each V720 is 270 g of glass and between 900 and 950 g of honey, so a full box comes to over 14 kg. The box groups but does not cushion — glass concentrates a lot of weight in very little surface, and what breaks things is rarely the knock from outside but one jar working against another. Before taping it up, check that all twelve are held still and add whatever internal separation the weight, the route and the carrier call for.

03 · BEFORE YOU BUY

It is sold by the unit and without jars: the board only. And it is worth doing the sum before ordering, because the numbers do not line up on their own — the V720 comes in packs of 25 and the box takes twelve, so each pack fills two boxes and leaves one jar over. If you are preparing a whole season, order boxes by counting dozens, not packs.
