01 · WHAT IT SAYS AND WHAT THAT OBLIGES

A message is not decoration

Unlike a seal that carries only a drawing, this one states something: that the honey is from Spain. It should only go on jars whose honey is, and not on blends containing honey from elsewhere.

And be clear about what it does not do: it does not replace the mandatory origin statement on the label. Origin is legal information on the container and belongs with the other mandatory particulars; this is visual reinforcement on top of them.

02 · THE NARROW BAND

Twenty-two millimetres, and you notice

It measures 22 × 142 mm: half the height of the wide seals in the catalogue. That makes it less intrusive — it crosses the lid without eating into the front of the jar or fighting the label.

At 142 mm long, what runs down each side is what is left after crossing the lid: on a 66 mm mouth almost four centimetres remain per side. Do the subtraction with yours before ordering a hundred.

03 · THE DESIGN

Golden comb, and what that is for

The golden comb with bees does a specific job on a shelf: it reads as honey from a distance, before anyone gets close enough to read the label. At a fair, with twenty similar jars around, that is what separates the one they pick up from the one they do not.

And it does what any seal does: if someone opens the jar, it tears and it shows.

04 · APPLYING IT

Clean, dry lid, and last of all

It goes on after filling and closing, on a clean, dry lid. With a trace of honey on the rim, the seal lifts by itself within a couple of days.

Peel and place, with no machine and no heat. Centre it on the lid and smooth to one side, then the other.
