When you arrive at the apiary during full flower bloom and it’s time to requeen, there’s no room for mistakes: a failed introduction can ruin your season. For those decisive days, the JZs BZs multifunctional queen cage (American model) is your best ally.

What makes it special is that it’s impregnated with acceptance pheromones, helping the colony perceive it as familiar. The queen compartment is spacious and secure, and if workers become agitated, the queen can take refuge in the opaque tube while spreading her scent, allowing a smooth integration. The ventilated slots on all sides maintain olfactory contact without causing clustering around the queen.

It fits easily between two frames — Hoffmann, Langstroth, or Layens — and stays stable thanks to its smart design. The feeding tube, shaped like an hourglass, accepts a candy cap for controlled, safe release. Perfect for queen introduction, transport, or queen banks.

Pro tip: in strong eucalyptus or lavender hives, make them queenless for 6–24 h, remove queen cells, and place the cage in the brood chamber with open brood. Add 3–6 nurse bees and avoid too much smoke: acceptance rates improve dramatically.
