FULL BOX

Individually wrapped 7 g portions for the feed compartment of the shipping cage.

A box of 200 portions. Formulated to stay soft for as long as the journey lasts, not to be stored in the hive.

01 · WHAT IS AT STAKE

It is the only food they have on board

During shipping, the candy in the cage compartment is the only source of energy for the queen and her attendant bees. If that paste dries out or crystallises partway, they lose access to food just when they need it most. This fondant is formulated to stay soft and edible throughout the journey, from dispatch to introduction into the new colony.

02 · WHY IT DOES NOT DRY OUT

Inverted and non-inverted, in proportion

The balance of invert and non-invert sugars gives it a consistency that resists drying during transport. Unlike a winter fondant, formulated with low moisture, here the point is the opposite: the portion stays accessible for several days so the queen and her attendants can feed effortlessly until the cage reaches its destination.

03 · HOW TO USE IT

One portion per cage, two if the trip is long

Each portion comes separately wrapped: you remove the wrapper and place it in the cage's feed compartment, with no handling of bulk paste and no carrying residue from one cage to another, which reduces cross-contamination between batches. The 7 g format fits the feed recess of standard shipping cages; on journeys longer than 7 days, add two portions.

The arithmetic is direct for whoever ships: one box is 200 cages with their portion, or a hundred long consignments if the trip calls for two. Being individually wrapped, they can be taken out to the mating apiary and fitted there without carrying a tub of paste or weighing portions by hand.

04 · BEFORE YOU BUY

It is an energy feed based on sugars (a complementary feed), meant to cover transport and the start in the receiving colony. It provides no protein and does not guarantee acceptance: it supports the queen, but queenlessness, colony strength and weather still decide the introduction.

✓ FITSQueen shipping cages, from despatch through to introduction.
⚠ NOT WINTER CANDIIt carries more moisture on purpose. To cover stores in the hive, that is another product.
