Beekeeping boot by Calzados Segarra, in natural split leather, with a side zip and a wide last.

A day at the apiary is hours on your feet over uneven ground, with your trousers tucked inside the boot. This one has a wide last and closes with a side zip, which is what you appreciate with the suit already on.

01 · BUILD

Split leather on top, rubber underneath, zip at the side

The upper is natural split leather, lined for thermal comfort in temperate and cold areas. The sole is rubber, with grip on loose ground. The metal zip runs down the side, so you can get them on and off without fighting the suit.

02 · HIVE HEALTH

Break them in before you go to the apiary

This is the tip least often read and most often appreciated: wear them for a few days before your first visit. The natural smell of new leather draws the bees' attention and raises the chance of stings on the boot. A few days of normal wear takes the edge off it.

03 · BEFORE YOU BUY

Sizes and insoles

Available from size 38 to 47. They come without an insole: if you use arch support or an insole of your own, it drops straight in; if you were expecting one included, there is not one.
