Small decorated egg mould: 26 grams of wax per candle, around 38 candles to a kilo.

It is the best-yielding mould in the range. Twenty-six grams a piece means almost forty candles per kilo of wax. For an Easter basket or a market stall, that ratio is hard to beat.

01 · 26 GRAMS: 38 CANDLES PER KILO

The sum that decides the batch

The mould is 5.5 cm tall with a 17.5 cm circumference, and the candle comes out at 4.3 cm by 3.4 cm across. It is a small piece — the kind sold in sets rather than one at a time.

The maker specifies a 3 × 9 wick. Once the first candle is out, it is worth burning a test one before committing to the whole batch: at this diameter, the wick decides whether it burns down evenly or sinks a well.

02 · IT COMES PRE-CUT

And that is what saves the relief

The mould arrives already pre-cut: you open it to release the candle instead of pulling it out. On a decorated egg, with relief across the whole surface, pulling is exactly what wipes out the detail you bought the mould for. Before pouring, the cut is closed with rubber bands so the wax does not escape through the join.

Pour the wax at 70-75 °C — it melts at 62-65 and darkens above 85 — slowly, so it reaches into the relief, and do not open the cut until the piece is completely cold.

03 · BEFORE YOU BUY
