Details of Adjustable no-drip honey gate Ø40 mm

Food-grade plastic non-drip honey gate, 40/49 — 1½'' thread — with an Allen-screw adjustable closure, ergonomic handle and locking nut.

What sets it apart is that the closure adjusts: when it starts to drip from wear, you do not change the gate, you tighten the screw.

01 · THE SIZE

40 inside, 49 outside, and the hole decides

The two numbers are just that: 40 mm inner bore and 49 mm outer thread, what the honey house has always called 1½ inches. The measurement that decides is not the gate's, it is your tank's hole: it has to let those 49 mm of thread through. Before ordering, measure the outlet — the hole, not the diameter of the tank — and compare.

02 · THE SCREW IS THE ADJUSTMENT

If it is stiff, slacken it

There are two different seals here and they should not be confused. The internal closure has no gasket: it is plastic on plastic, and the pressure between the two faces is set with an Allen screw. That is what lets you get the clean cut-off back when use wears the seat. It also explains the opposite: if the handle is stiff, that screw is too tight. The mounting, on the other hand, does have a food-grade gasket and a locking nut, both included.

03 · CLEAN CUT AND FLOW

Made for honey, not for water

The non-drip principle is meant for hand bottling: closing without leaving a thread hanging or the drop that dirties the rim of the jar. This model also has a larger opening than others, so honey comes out faster without losing control. The nuance almost nobody writes down: it works with thick liquids; with water or thin oils it drips, because the closure relies on the viscosity of honey.

04 · WHERE IT FITS

Medium and large settling tanks

It is the standard on 200 and 400 kg settling tanks and on a good many medium ones, as well as being the usual size of the outlet on many extractors. It is food-grade plastic, so it pairs with stainless equipment without trouble, and it comes apart for a proper clean — which on a honey gate is half the maintenance.

05 · BEFORE YOU BUY

Check the outlet thread on your tank before ordering: this gate is 40/49 (1½''). Mounting gasket and locking nut included.

✓ FITS200-400 kg settling tanks and 1½'' outlets for hand bottling.
✕ DOESN'T FITWater, thin syrups and light oils: the closure relies on honey.
