The heated honey decanter is an essential tool for any beekeeper looking to optimize the quality and purity of their honey. Made from high-quality stainless steel, this device is strategically placed under the honey extractor tap, allowing honey to flow by gravity through various vertical filters without the need for transfer pumps.

Details of Heated Honey Decanter

Heated settling bench that goes under the extractor tap: the honey filters by gravity, with no pump in between.

It takes advantage of the fact that wax floats. The filters stand vertically between compartments: the honey moves from one to the next and the wax impurities, being lighter, stay up and behind. That is why the bench filters through a whole extraction without stopping to be cleaned.

01 · THE WAX FLOATS, THE FILTERS WAIT

Gravity filtering, in cascade

There are 15 cm between compartments, and that gap is what lets the wax rise and gather while the clean honey moves on. It is the same principle as the conical filtering tank, applied horizontally.

The outlet is double, so you can fill one container while the next is being made ready without cutting the flow. And the whole body is stainless steel, which here matters more for cleaning than for durability: a settling bench you cannot clean properly will not last two seasons.

02 · NO PUMP, BY GRAVITY

Less handling is less air

Sitting straight under the extractor tap, the honey goes from drum to filter without passing through buckets or a pump. That avoids two specific things: the air whipped in at every transfer, which then has to be skimmed off as foam, and one more place where the honey stands still.

The heat comes from the walls, with an element and an analogue dial thermostat, and it is there to keep the honey moving through the filters, not to warm it. As with any heated equipment, the useful setting is the lowest that keeps it flowing: above 40 °C the HMF rises and the diastase falls.

03 · 35 CM TALL: MEASURE YOUR TAP

The measurement that decides whether it suits you

The bench is 88 × 43 × 35 cm, and those 35 of height are the critical figure: it has to fit between the floor and the extractor tap. Before buying, measure that height on the machine you already have.

At 60 kg of steel, it is also a piece of furniture you place once and leave. It is worth deciding its spot with the whole line in mind: extractor above, and below it the container that will take the filtered honey.

04 · BEFORE YOU BUY

A link in the line, not a storage tank.

✓ FITSUnder the extractor tap, with 35 cm of clearance and a double outlet to the containers.
⚠ MEASURE THE TAP HEIGHTIt needs 35 cm clear under the extractor outlet. That is the check that comes before any other.
✕ NOT A SETTLING TANKIt filters on the way through during extraction. To let the harvest rest, the tank is another.
