01 · IT REMOVES THE BUCKET STEP

From extractor to ripener carrying nothing

The usual route of freshly extracted honey is by weight: tap, bucket, bucket to the ripener, and back again. With this pre-filter under the extractor and a transfer pump connected, that leg disappears.

And on the way it does the first filtering, the one that takes out what you can see: cappings, wax, bits of bee and propolis. What reaches the ripener no longer has to settle that out.

02 · 0.4 MM IS A PRE-FILTER

It roughs out; it does not clarify

The strainer is stainless steel at 0.4 mm — coarse on purpose. Fine bubbles and small particles go through, and they remain the ripener's job: the pre-filter does not replace settling, it shortens it.

That coarseness is also what makes it work: honey straight from the extractor is warm from the combs and passes on its own. A fine mesh in the cold blinds off and forces you to stop the pump.

03 · IT COMES OUT AT 2”, NOT 1½”

Not the calibre of the house honey line

The butterfly valve it comes with is 2”, that is DN 50. The workshop's usual honey line is 1½” (DN 40), so you either allow for a change of calibre or build the whole outlet in 2”.

The connections provided for are a socket and a DIN nut, and the nut is not included. It is the part most often forgotten when ordering.

04 · MEASURE UNDER THE TAP

55 cm across and 32 cm tall

The pre-filter has to fit under the extractor tap with the hose on, and it is 55 cm across and 32 cm tall. On low extractors, or ones with short legs, that gap does not exist.

It is the one-minute check that saves a return: measure from the floor to the tap before ordering.
