Once you have spun your frames — Langstroth after a heavy rosemary flow, or Layens fresh off the uncapping — the first step before letting the honey settle in the tank is getting the coarse material out: pieces of capping, wax splinters, propolis debris, the odd stray larva. That is where this AISI stainless steel sieve comes in: you set it on the 200 kg tank and let gravity do the work.
• Fast filtering – The 1.5 × 1.5 mm woven mesh holds back the coarse material without throttling the flow; you can tip the extractor buckets straight in with no bottleneck.
• Durability – 0.8 mm stainless steel that stands up to organic acids; it will not rust if you leave it sitting in honey overnight, and it cleans with a simple hot-water rinse.
• Universal drop-in format – The 620 mm internal diameter fits most 200 kg (~265 L) ripening tanks. The 130 mm skirt keeps splashes down while you work.
• Less maintenance – Being a single mesh, it does not build up fines in successive layers; if you want finer filtering, sit a 400 µm nylon strainer on top and you have a modular two-stage system.
Notes from real use
• For honeys that crystallise readily (lavender, thyme), pour the honey while it is still at 35-38 °C so the crystals pass through the mesh easily.
• If you work with pollen, it also serves to sift fresh pollen before drying, taking out the larger impurities.
• Do not knock the mesh with metal scrapers; if it clogs, soak it in warm water and the wax will come away on its own.
