01 · WHAT IT IS FOR

The metal stops touching the product

A steel drum collects damp, wax residue and propolis in its seams, and over the years rust shows up in the bottom. Lined with the bag, honey never comes into contact with the metal however worn it is inside, and you get to use drums you would no longer use on looks alone. When you finish, you pull the bag out and the drum is practically ready: no scraping seams, no hot water.

02 · THE FOUR SEASON USES

Honey, syrup, water and pollen

To store and settle honey when you run short of stainless ripeners — especially dark forest or chestnut honeys, the ones that clean worst. To make up syrup for stimulation or wintering without the feed touching metal. As a large drinking station in hard summers: the water stays clean longer and with no taste of rust — throw in corks or clean wood so the bees have somewhere to land. And to ferment pollen or protein silage, where the acidity of the contents is exactly what attacks the drum wall.

03 · SIZE AND STRENGTH

980 × 1700 mm, and 300 gauge

At 980 × 1700 mm there is plenty of material to line a standard 200 to 220 litre drum, fold over the rim and tie or seal without cutting it fine. 300 gauge in virgin polyethylene is industrial thickness: it takes the weight of some 300 kg of honey and the movement of a paddle or a stirrer without tearing at the first go. It is transparent, so you see the level and the state of the contents without opening anything.

04 · BEFORE YOU BUY

Sold by the unit and the drum is not included. Check that yours is 200-220 litres: the bag is cut to that size.
