Food-grade polypropylene skimming scraper, 22 × 13 cm and 2 thick, white, with a one-piece handle: for removing the layer of foam that rises to the surface of honey in settling tanks and drums without stirring the batch.

Foam is gathered, not pushed under: scraper almost flat, slow pass and everything that rises goes to another bucket.

01 · WHEN

After settling, not before

Freshly extracted honey carries air and light particles that rise over a day or two of rest and form a layer of foam on top; scrape earlier and the layer is still mixed in and almost all of it stays, which is what one review describes. Wait for settling to concentrate it, lay the scraper almost flat on the surface and go over it slowly, emptying into a separate container so the foam does not go back into the tank.

02 · THE TOOL

22 centimetres of edge, in a single piece of plastic

A 22 × 13 cm plate with a thin edge and the handle moulded in the same piece, no joints for honey to get into; the slot hangs it up. Polypropylene declared fit for food contact under the conditions tested, according to the supplier’s documentation: wash with hot water and dry; no abrasive pad, which roughens the surface.

03 · WHAT IT DOES NOT DO

Neither filter nor settle

It removes what has already risen. Air taken in when pumping or pouring from height it does not fix: clean honey needs a gentle flow, the filter and resting time; the scraper is the last move before bottling.

The scraper alone is supplied.
