Details of Cleaning powder for insemination tips

Schley cleaning powder for dissolving dried semen and albumin residues from the glass tips and capillaries of an instrumental insemination set. 30 g sachet.

A dirty capillary does not fail: it deceives. It still draws and still releases, but no longer the same amount — and it carries material from one queen over to the next.

01 · THE DILUTIONS

0.5 % for normal use, 1 % for what has dried on

It dissolves in water: 5 g per litre for a normal day's soiling and 10 g when the residue has been dry for a while. Soak for 10 to 20 minutes.

The 30 g sachet makes about six litres at 0.5 %. It works on protein residue without attacking the glass or leaving a film.

02 · THE RINSE

Distilled water, and dry before using it again

What decides the result is not the soak but what comes after. Rinse with distilled water: tap water leaves limescale inside a capillary a few tenths of a millimetre wide, and that is where the next residue catches.

And dry it thoroughly before loading: a single drop inside the tip dilutes the dose.

03 · WHAT WILL NOT DISSOLVE

That is what the wire is for, not a brush

If something stays stuck, run the dedicated cleaning wire through. Nothing abrasive goes near glass: a tip scratched on the inside stops sliding.

04 · BEFORE YOU BUY

Cleaning here is not maintenance: it is what keeps two genetic lines apart.

✓ FITSIf you inseminate queens and want to start each one with a clean tip.
✕ DOESN'T FITIt is not a disinfectant, nor a general cleaner for beekeeping equipment.
⚠ NOT INCLUDEDThe distilled water for rinsing and the cleaning wire, both sold separately.
