Clear cylindrical cage for protecting, transporting and hatching queens, with a plug that doubles as a feeder.
The classic roller cage: clear plastic so you can see the queen without opening anything, and a plug with a reservoir you fill with candy or a drop of honey so she is fed through hatching or a journey.
01 · WHAT IT IS FOR
For hatching, the cage mounts onto the cell cup holder or the natural queen cell block, and those onto the frame holder: the cell is held firm and the queen emerges inside, where nothing can get at her. For transport or introduction, fill the plug with candy and close it; on arrival you take the plug off and the queen walks out through the block, with the bees eating the candy from the other side. The plastic is non-porous: scrape it, wash it with pressurised water at 60 °C and it takes bleach, so it is reused season after season.
02 · SIZE
This is the standard length cage. On queen rearing frames with little space between the bars it will not fit: for that there is a short 19 mm cage for the incubator. Measure the gap on your bar before ordering a whole batch.
